Desk seems to be intended as a place to have screenshots to your files and applications. Most frequently used files would be placed here. It also includes a note writing module for quick jottings downs. In almost all document based programs one of the itmes on the file menu is add to desltop, allowing items to be quickly and easily added to the desktop for later use. This works for e-mail and webpages too.

Here is an example of one of the notes being written. I guess they are best seen as elctronic post it notes. Since this implementation lacks a real jotter I'm sure they will come in handy.

This isn't desk, but I though I include the shot here as a (relatively) logical place. The Office application Group is in the backgrowund but this shows the replacement for the open files dialog and can be used to switch between application in three easy click (one activate menu, two choose the square, three choose the application). The list includes only currently opened applications.
