eBook Reader has been upgraded to version 1.2 to fix a problem with removing books. Read the full story for more details.

New Release: eBook Reader for Nokia 9210 Communicator, Version 1.2. The following problem was fixed:

Hi there,

I just downloaded your new ebook reader. Great program. Am definitely going to buy it. However, I soon encountered one very annoying problem. What I did was the following:

1. Installed ebook reader. vent very smoothly.
2. Copied some doc files to my D drive.
3. Tried the reader. Loved it.
4. Choose to let the reader continue where it left off last time. Closed reader.
5. Then I manually deleted the ebook I was reading.
6. Started ebook reader again and now I got an error which was completely unrecoverable. After closing the error message, the program closes. So I had no way of starting the reader and had to copy the ebook that I had deleted again to the 9210. After this everything went well.

Good to see Epocware fixing products that quickly!

The big re-launch of All About ER6 is due in the next few days (Sunday evening hopefully!). What's in store - read the full new sstory to find out more...

Well one thing s updates will start again I know I have done much to the site recently but thats because I've been working on the server move and a slight redesign. All the pages on the new server are uptodate and there been over 20 additions to the software directory. The downloads directory has also grown considerably and there are several news section to keep you happy.

While the main focus is on Communicators there are section on Mediaphones and Smartphones but there isn't much there simply because there are no products on the market..

and to celebrate the relaunch we'll be having a competition to give away almost $100 of software... not to mention new reviews, new content, new software...

and rememeber if you would like to help out e-mail me. If you have a good ringtone or background send it to me for inclusion in the new downloads area..

In the meantime go to Zenobyte.com and check out their RingTone Editor for the 9210.

Software from RMR and PsiLoc Posted Friday, August 3, 2001 by Rafe
RMR has released some OPL programs. You need to download the OPL plug in (see other news item).

From their site:
We have been working closely with Symbian to prepare for the release of OPL-based programs for their new Operating System V6.0, presently used by the Nokia 9210 Communicator. And the good news is that the first ones are now available. But they come with a health warning. Symbian have released only an unsupported Alpha version of the essential runtime code that the programs need, and it still contains a few bugs. However, given the choice between releasing the programs with a few cosmetic bugs and not releasing them, we decided it was better to let people see them. So you can now download the following for your 9210 Communicator:
RMRBank - Personal Accounts Suite
RMRFuel - Fuel Consumption Manager
RMRCar - Company Car Manager
RMRExpense - Expense Account Tracker
So give them a try, treating them as BETA versions and remember, upgrades to programs on specific platforms are always free so you won't lose out by registering now.

Great news for the Nokia 9210.

See http://www.rmrsoft.com/

PsiLoc have also been busy releasing localisations and programs.
You can get several new programs and several updates.

New Programs inlcude Runner 0.90B (runs program from a command line),
Remote Link 0.90B (control the remote link) and Restart 0.90B (restart the 9210 easily). They also have several localisations available.

OPL Alpha for the 9210! Posted Friday, August 3, 2001 by Rafe
Symbian have released through their SymbianDevNet site OPL for the Nokia 9210. OPL promises to open up thousands of protential ports to the 9210 from Er5.

They mention that it is an alpha version and the number of downloads (i.e. the interest in it) will determine whether development continues.

This means everybody who want to see more apps for the 9210 (especially from part time programmers) should download this file. This will greatly benefit users of the 9210 in terms of applications available. The potential is great from program listings in the hundreds we could see programs in the thousands with OPL support.

Right go! be gone from this site. DOWNLOAD NOW!

RMRSoft have made their OPL program available (see seperate post).

Java Programs: Telnet and Asteroids Posted Monday, July 23, 2001 by Rafe
I have found out about 2 Java programs from Systems.to. They are Asteroids, and Telnet - telnet for the 9210!

You can view more information about Asteroids from this page:
http://www.epochelp.com/er6/crystal/software/asteroids.htm

You can view more information about Telnet from this page:

Yellow Computing 9210 Developments Posted Sunday, July 22, 2001 by Rafe
Yellow Computing have updated their website to reflect the programs that they currently have in development. These include YZip, Rota, Pro Lingua, and GPS Locator.

Each program now has it own page which features information about the program, screenshots and expected release date.

From the website:
YZip - At long last! Here’s a program which allows you to unpack zipped e-mail attachments and internet downloads directly on your Nokia Communicator. Moreover, you can create your own ZIP archives on your Nokia and send them, for instance, as e-mail attachments. This helps you save memory on your Communicator as well as precious time during data transmission.

Rota - The ROTA system solves a central problem for many professional users of the Nokia 9210 Communicator, as it allows the remote maintenance and administration of all system parameters and applications on a 9210.
Using a GSM data link, you can download updates of existing applications and even new software installations directly to your Nokia.
The user no longer needs to carry out any activities, as everything can now be controlled fully automatically by the head office. In this way you can ensure that records are up-to-date on all systems at all times – without any involvement of the user.
An ready-to-run update system consists of two components: the ROTA software client on the Nokia and a suitable console application which is installed, for instance, to a PC at the head office.
Technical details on suitable console applications can be provided upon request.

GPS Locator - GPS Locator is an application for the automatic positioning of a Nokia Communicator with a GPS aerial connected to it. Ideally, the aerial should be connected to the Nokia car kit. As soon as the Nokia Communicator has been mounted in the vehicle, positioning can start. The positioning data is transmitted from the Nokia to the head office by SMS, though it can also be requested from the same by SMS. The application runs in the background on a 9210, without disturbing other applications. You can continue to operate your Nokia in the usual way.

Pro Lingua - ProLingua Translator is a dictionary program you will soon find indispensable. Ideal for work, home, holidays or a business trip - in fact everywhere. Whether you need it for your job or when travelling, ProLingua give you an amazing number of benefits. It helps you get the most out of your Nokia Communicator

Its good to see more and more third party software becoming avialble for the 9210. This is now listed in the 9210 software directory found within this site. And remember if you are and author and want your program featured here - e-mail me!
