 The
Beatnik Audio Engine (BAE) is one of the most mature and reliable
solutions available for high quality sound, voice and music playback.
The BAE enables users to experience enhanced audio through a
variety of digital devices including mobile phones, PDAs and set-top
boxes, using extremely small file sizes. The BAE is a scalable software
audio engine that works as a complete audio sub-system for digital
devices. Beatnik's audio engine can play back and mix popular formats
such as MP3, WAV, AIFF, MIDI and RMF - an enhanced version of MIDI
that adds custom samples to recreate the original sound of the music.
RMF files are created using Beatnik authoring tools and played back
from the BAE. RMF files are incredibly compact and play back instantly
when triggered.
Beatnik enhanced audio technology makes it possible to create
audio content applications and games on digital devices. Only Beatnik
offers this powerful combination of instant response, high quality,
and flexible control - plus, Beatnik technology keeps audio file
sizes and download times reasonable even in narrow band environments

of 10K to 400K while the equivalent MP3 file would be 1MB to 4MB.
